Batavia is an opera in three acts and a prologue by Richard Mills to a libretto by Peter Goldsworthy, commissioned by Opera Australia. The plot is based on the historical events surrounding the Dutch sailing ship Batavia.
The opera premiered on 11 May 2001 at the State Theatre (Melbourne) for the Centenary of Federation Festival. It received three Helpmann Awards and six Green Room Awards.
Summer of the Seventeenth Doll
Summer of the Seventeenth Doll is a chamber opera in two acts by Richard Mills to a libretto by Peter Goldsworthy, based on the play of the same name by Ray Lawler. The opera was commissioned by the Victoria State Opera and premiered on 19 October 1996 at the Playhouse in Melbourne. It lasts about two hours. It was live simulcast on ABC Classic FM on Australia Day (26 January) 1997.
Voyage to the Moon
Voyage to the Moon was a collaboration between Victorian Opera and Musica Viva, in association with the Performance Program of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions, led by Jane Davidson, Alan Maddox, Frederic Kiernan and Joseph Browning. The Production toured the country in February/March 2016.
The Pied Piper
